Flat Roofing in Faversham

A flat roof that ponds, blisters or lets water in rarely gets better on its own. We repair and replace flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers and porches in Faversham, from a single patch to a full strip, re-board and new covering.

Signs your flat roof needs attention

Damp patches or stains on the ceiling below are the obvious one. On the roof itself, look for splits or blisters in the covering, joints lifting at the edges, water still sitting on the roof a couple of days after rain, and a spongy feel underfoot, which usually means the boards underneath have got wet. Caught early, many of these can be repaired. Left alone, water gets into the deck and the whole roof has to come off.

Repair or replace?

We'll tell you honestly which makes sense. A sound roof with one damaged area can often be repaired. If the covering is at the end of its life or the boards are rotten, a patch is money wasted, and replacing the roof costs less in the long run. We take photos while we're up there so you can see the condition for yourself before you decide.

How a flat roof replacement works

We strip the old covering, check the boards and joists, and replace any timber that has rotted. The roof is then re-boarded where needed and the new covering is laid, with the edges, upstands and any outlets or rooflights properly sealed. Finally we check the falls so water runs to the gutter, clear away the old materials and leave the site tidy.

What affects the price

The size of the roof, how easy it is to reach, the condition of the timber underneath, the type of covering you choose, and details such as rooflights, lead flashings and guttering. We'll look at the roof and give you a free quote before any work starts.

What customers say

5 out of 5 stars
“Louis came to replace my flat roof on my extension and to clean out all the guttering of mine and my neighbours houses. He did an amazing job he was very polite and professional and cleaned up well after himself. I had to go into work and I was able to leave Louis to his own devises, I felt able to trust him and trust that he would do the job I requited. My neighbour and I were both very impressed with his work. His time keeping was excellent and arrived each time he said he would. Great job. I would highly recommend.”

Flat Roofing: common questions

Can a leaking flat roof be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Often it can be repaired, if the leak is in one place and the rest of the roof and the boards underneath are sound. If the covering has failed across the roof or the deck is rotten, replacement is the better option. We inspect the roof, show you photos and give you an honest answer either way.

How long does it take to replace a flat roof?

It depends on the size of the roof, the condition of the timber underneath and the weather. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote.

Do you replace the boards as well as the covering?

Yes. When we strip a flat roof we check the deck and replace any boards that are wet or rotten before the new covering goes on. Laying a new roof over a damaged deck is a false economy.

How much does a new flat roof cost in Faversham?

The price depends on the size of the roof, access, the condition of the deck and the covering you choose, so we quote each roof individually. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
