Finding the real cause of a leak
Water rarely comes through the ceiling directly below where it gets into the roof. It can run along a rafter or the felt before it shows. We check the roof covering, the flashings and the roof space where we can, rather than sealing the first gap we see and hoping. You get photos of the problem and of the finished repair.
When to call a roofer
Call if you see a damp patch on a ceiling or chimney breast, tiles or bits of mortar on the ground, daylight in the loft, or gutters overflowing in ordinary rain. Small faults are far cheaper to put right before water reaches the timbers and plaster.

It's worth removing when it's thick enough to hold water against the tiles, lift them, or fall and block your gutters. A light covering is mostly cosmetic. We can clear it and check the tiles underneath at the same time.
